PresenTense Institute

Frequently Asked Questions for PICZ

What's the difference between a Fellow and a Member? Accepted fellows are provided with residency for a period of six weeks (June 23 - August 3) during which they have access to skill building session in project management and execution; meet with leading figures in the fields of venture capital, philanthropy, hi-tech, social action, education and the arts; receive mentorship from a leading innovator in their field; and network with socially-minded entrepreneurs from around the world.

Those who cannot commit for the entire six weeks can apply as members -- who have access to the Institute work-space where they can meet other entrepreneurs and work on their projects, meet with leading figures from across the disciplines at public lectures, and network with others in the Jerusalem area.

How long is the Summer Institute? The 2008 Summer Institute will last from June 23rd til August 3rd.

Where is the Institute located? In Jerusalem, smack dab in the middle of the action.

How much does it cost? Tuition in the Institute is free for Fellows and Members as is residency for fellows. It's up to the fellow to decide if they want to live in the house or not. We don't cover flights.

Wait, does that mean I could live in Jerusalem for a whole summer on your tab? You betcha--if you're a Resident Fellow. Non-resident fellows can participate in all activities, but might have to pay a bit for lodging.

What if I work? If Israeli residents need to work then that is fine, however all residents need to attend evening programs and make the most out of their 'fellowship' experience by being present at the institute as much as possible. Fellows are free from 9am to 5pm to work on their projects, meet with relevant people and there will be wifi-galore, so if you can telecommute, or work in the Greater Jerusalem/Tel-Aviv area.

Does that mean Israelis can apply too? Can Apply? We want you to apply! Israelis and Israel-residents are more than encouraged to apply--the key for the Institute's success is to bring together the best minds of Israel and the diaspora. And since the Institute's schedule is focused on afternoon/evening activities, participating in the Institute will not conflict with your job!

When is the application due? Applications for Membership are still open--and we're still looking for Israeli fellows so y'better Act fast.
